Although recorded in only three hours, Society by the Sea Volume 2 was the result of an almost 8-year career by my grandfather, Bob Hayes.  Now at 83, Bob feels that he is playing better than ever and wanted to record his playing for generations of people to enjoy!

The list of musicians and bands Bob has performed with throughout a brilliant career include cornetist Bobby Hackett, accordionist Myron Flores, trombonist George Masso, reed player Dick Johnson, vocalist Robert Goulet, The Ink Spots, The Chordettes ("Mr. Sandman"), and The Les Elgart Orchestra, among many others.

Bob Higgins

All of the musicians on this album perform and reside on Cape Cod. On this record date we were joined by a terrific vocalist, Bob Higgins.  One of our favorite musicians, Laird Boles, known for his solid and swinging play, joined us on bass.

Both Bob Higgins and Laird Boles added an extreme amount of musicality to this performance.

My playing on this album is the representation of eight years playing professionally with my grandfather and many other talented musicians.

For this album we selected many of our favorite songs.  When a musician like Bob knows thousands of songs, it is often very difficult to narrow it down to only a few!  Many of the songs are often requested by Bob's fans and he recorded them as a way of giving back to the great people who have supported him on a daily and nightly basis throughout the years.  Mixed in throughout this album are rare recordings of Bob playing solo piano at his home.  With the freedom of playing solo, Bob could perform medleys, shift tempos, and jump from song to song.  We were fortunate to have these 'gems' on tape and now you can share in t he enjoyment by listening to them in your home.

This recording was done in a live, concert setting.  The only aspect missing was the audience.  We thank you for your support of us and the music and ask that you put on this recording, sit back, relax, and add the final component to the concert setting - the Audience!
