A graduate of
Boston's Berklee School of Music, Bela Sarkozy Jr. has studied and played with
some of the world's finest jazz musicians, including Larry Coryell, Jeff
Stout, and Herb Pomeroy. His unique jazz style incorporates the classic
elements of 40's big band and 50's bebop with a markedly contemporary
sensibility, creating a sound that ranges from mellow to fusion without pause
or apology.
After several
years in Pennsylvania, where he was a founding member of the fusion ensemble
New Kind of Talk, and where he co-produced that band's acclaimed CD Change in
Time, the Hungarian born Sarkozy now returns to the Boston area.
Mr. Sarkozy can be heard on CD Essence of the Man, a
collection of acoustic guitar selections arranged and performed by the artist
and Stay the Night, featuring Boston vocalist Cassandre McKinley.
Mr. Sarkozy has headlined both locally and internationally, and has
accompanied such artists as Jerry Vale, Al Martino, Bobby Rydell and Bobby
Vinton. He has also done studio recording for radio and television
commercials, and is currently doing club dates in the Boston-Providence
circuit.
