The Little Red Shop Museum is all that's left of the world-famous Draper Corporation that was once the largest maker of power looms for the entire textile industry.

Larry Joe, wearing a dapper Kangol Wool Cap with a story behind it (Larry has a lot of stories),  said he would be sure to get in  a couple of real old down home style blues. He did, with great rhythm and inflections about life, both sad and happy.

Larry Joe was born and spent the first part of his life in southern Arkansas.  After the Navy he moved to New England and graduated with a Bachelor Science degree in Engineering Management.  He has accumulated over 24 years of experience in engineering management, nuclear plant regulatory compliance and quality assurance. His work with 18 electric generating plant clients during that time includes program management, marketing campaign development, utility operations maintenance management, inventory control, asset valuation and warehousing.

Larry Joe is also an eight year U. S. Navy nuclear submarine engineering plant operator and laboratory technician veteran.  A term of service complimented by his roles as co-author and review committee member for nuclear power industry publications and by his two years volunteered as a Massachusetts Metrowest Employment Board Science Technology Engineering and Math Steering Committee member.

An avid high speed open ocean sailor and lover of life, Larry Joe has made several offshore coastal voyages and snow skied several prominent mountains in the United States, raced motorcycles and dabbled in sail plane soaring.  Settling down as a family man and collecting his life experiences, Larry Joe channelled the energy and passion that took him through 46 U.S. states and 2 USA territories to launch Larry Joe’s New England Fire Pit. His mission is to energize the street vending arena with his unique and high touch, ‘olde fashioned’ mobile kitchen concession concept.

To achieve his mission, Larry Joe uses a concept called showcase-cooking, where large picture windows make all aspects of food preparation clearly visible to waiting fans.  To round out the unique experience at the Fire Pit for fans who can stand it, Larry Joe delivers animated storytelling along with amusing performances of southern blues piano and song.

Larry Joe has now pared his activities down to interest in this one Larry Joe’s New England Fire Pit Hotdog business and his love for Asia and Pacific recreational and educational travels with his family.

Larry Joe owes the basis for his hot dog preparation to a technique reported to him by another older southern gentleman cook as having been created in the FDR White House.  The White House cooks at that time were reportedly also southern and slave descended as is Larry Joe.  Reportedly, this is the sandwich preparation used in 1939 when FDR served hotdogs to the King and Queen of England.

Hickory wood is used to infuse a rather unique flavor that is difficult, to find in other restaurants.  ‘Olde fashioned’ implies gourmet and hand-crafted, characteristics that Larry Joe delivers by creating 7 different homemade toppings that are made fresh, from raw ingredients daily as needed.  Larry Joe says, supplementing the cooking method with these special toppings makes the hotdog a hotdog fanatics taste delight and very difficult to imitate.
