We attended the New Jersey Jazz Society concert presented by Bruce Gast on July 30th in Morristown, New Jersey, and thought it might be of interest to you as two of our favorite NE musicians were involved.
The concert featured one musician from each of five states. Jeff Hughes (MA) lead the group with his marvelous understated trumpet style. Joining him were two fantastic reed men Noel Kaletsky (CT) and Joe Midiri (NJ). Although we’re used to hearing Herb Gardner (NY) on trombone and Paul Midiri (Del) on vibraphone they provided superb support on piano and drums, respectively.
The Bickford Theater at the Morris Museum was nearly filled to capacity with an exceptionally appreciative audience. They were treated to solos by Jeff and duets by Noel and Joe which brought down the house. The enjoyment it seems was shared by the musicians who treated all by extending the program (to the delight of the attendees.) Simply stated it was a great concert. Thanks again to Bruce Gast for arranging these events.
Thank you Ed and Sharon for sharing this with us!!
