Freight Train Five

celebrates 30 years at the Gris!

The Freight Train Five celebrated their 30th anniversary at the the Griswold Inn in Essex, Connecticut on  Thursday, September 16th.  What a super-duper blowout!  Great Dixieland jazz, just as they have provided for the past 1500+ Thursdays.

Harry Arnold, Bob Card, Bob Bequillard, Dick Mundel, and Pete Davis were joined on a number of tunes by Dave Mechler, Dom Perone, Charlie Weyant, and Steve Cryan.

We all had a ball!  The place was packed, as expected, as the band has certainly gathered quite a following over the years.

So the Galvanized Jazz Band`s Millpond gigs and the Freight Train`s at the Gris represent well over a half-century of fine trad-jazz performances for all of us CT fans.  Clearly appreciated by loads of folks!”

 Dave Mechler

The 'Gris' opened it's doors in 1776. George Washington, Mark Twain, Albert Einstein, Katherine Hepburn all stayed here.  Get yourself to The Griswold Inn, come early, stay late! Enjoy a Revolutionary Ale or two, or perhaps dinner! Make your voices heard in celebration of 30 years of Trad Jazz in the Tap Room!  Become a part of history!!
