On Sunday, once a month 6-9 (check for which Sunday,) the GJB plays for your enjoyment.  Although the weather was inclement last Sunday, Freddy's faithful fans weathered the storm.  Some traveling a distance.  Freddy always seems to "pull the best out of his Derby hat."   Most of the time, Freddy announces the song, who wrote it and when.  He often asks his audience to name the song.  It never ceases to surprise me how knowledgeable the audience appears to be.  Hey, Freddy....how about a "Jeopardy" night?

Last Sunday  the band began the evening with a couple of Christmas numbers.  Joel gave it his best singing "Santa's coming to Town."  I was waiting for Joel to take off on his ever popular "Twelve Days of Christmas."   A Millpond tradition for years.   After several entertaining numbers, vocals and banjo,  Joel left early.  Before he left, he ended with "The Bells of St. Mary."  Not bad!

Freddy's selection of several Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael and Paul Whiteman numbers were just lovely.  Butch requested "Blue Again" one of his favorites.  Noel and Russ (on reeds) at their best playing "Running Wild."  Whew!

One could hear a pin drop when Tom Artin played "Star Dust."  Tom seems to be quite a regular on the CT scene.

The audience loves it when Russ plays his bass sax and tenor sax.  His bass sax is huge!  The bass sax was first used in 1844.  Meredith Porter used it in 'Music Man.'

Cynthia sang quite a few selections.  When she sang" The House of the Rising Sun,"  she was brilliant to the very end.   You go, girl!

I must say, Bill Logozzo, Art Hovey and Bill Sinclair seem to be enjoying every minute on stage.  Of course, the always and ever popular finale. "Saints" gives the entire band and audience a roaring ending to a great evening of entertainment.

With Christmas approaching, Cynthia rounded out the evening by singing "Silent Night."
Beautifully delivered.

And, thanks to Butch and Leigh Butterworth for their sponsorship and enthusiasm which makes this all happen.  The music is hot!  The chili is hot!  the Margaritas are cool!  Yes, Aunt Chilada's takes her tequila seriously.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
