When the weather is inclement, it amazes me how many people come out to support the band.  Keep it up!

As the room filled with regular fans, I noticed many new faces arriving. These new people seemed to enjoy the music and gave the band their undivided attention staying until the finale.

Joel arrived with banjo and some kind of electric "steel" guitar in hand.  When he finally settled down, he began playing his banjo, however, it didn't take long before he entertained us with his new toy.  Plucking away on his guitar, he soon had  audience attention to Hey Look Me Over and A Good Man is Hard to Find.

Shortly, Cynthia graced the stage with her talented version of I Almost Lost My Mind.  (Probably a good song to follow after Joel worked his "new guitar.")

After the band's rendition of Duke Ellington's Take The A Train, Sherman Kahn and Bill Sinclair worked this number like the pros they are,

Following this, Sherman went into Arti Shaw's (1938) Begin The Beguine.  When Sherm let go on his clarinet, you could hear a pin drop.  When he finished, the audience went wild.  Thank you Sherman!

Cynthia again came on stage to belt out All Of Me.  Russ Whitman, on sax, worked this number beautifully.

Joel, on his "steel" guitar," joined Cynthia as she entertained us with Strange Things Are Happening Every Day.  Joel giving it a western flair??

Freddy ended the first set with the 1915 foot-taping selection Alabama Jubilee.

When the band resumed, Tom Artin (on trombone) delighted us with his wonderful artistry of Stars Fell on Alabama.   Wow!  The audience was spellbound.

This was an evening of great selections allowing each band member to show his talent in many new and exciting ways.

Art Hovey's Hot Lips,  Tom Artin's Blue And Broken Hearted, Fat's Waller's Crazy About My Baby with Joel on vocals, Cynthia on vocals and Bill Sinclair adding his Boogie Woogie feeling to Old Fashioned Love.   Freddy was able to squeeze in a few more numbers here and there.  And, I might add that Cynthia gave us a wonderful performance of House of the Rising Sun.

The evening ended with Cynthia bringing down the house with If You Can't See Mama.  They brought the evening to a close with Freddy's popular finale The Saints.

Thanks Butch and Leigh for another great evening of good food and entertainment.
