Wednesday April 14th, the Heartbeat Jazz Band and their leader Bill
Logozzo celebrated their first year performing at the Yankee
Clipper.
The restaurant was full to capacity with well-wishers and balloons.
Although Skip Hughes (trombone and vocals) was missing, the band
made up for it by playing their "heartbeats" out.
As usual, Fred Vigorito's hat was full of surprises! Some of Fred's
selections were fun as they inspired audience participation.
I was happy to See Jean and Joe Gaffey back on the scene. Thanks to
Sharon and Ed, the Gaffey's have a driver. Jean and Joe were
regulars, for years, every Sunday at Millpond Tavern. You could be
sure they would be seated at Mary Vigorito's table. Nice to see you
at Yankee Clipper!!
Of the many numbers played, Sherman Khan brought a hush to the crowd
when he played STARDUST. Anyone who hears Sherman, on clarinet, is
in for a treat. Sherman has played with just about every big band. Arti Shaw is his one exception. When Arti Shaw was a hot commodity,
Sherman was a student at Yale. However, Sherm has made up for that
time lost.
Sherm...thank you for the many hours of listening pleasure.
Karen Senn (Hot Steamed Festival) brought her dad, young son and
daughter.
Jason is the Heartbeat's next vocalist. The little fella asked if
he could sing, took the mike like a pro and belted out, with full
band as his backup, TWINKLE, TWINKLE LITTLE STAR. Watch out Skip
Hughes!!
The Skip Hughes benefit concert CD is out and what a great CD!!!
This one is a real winner. To purchase a recording, contact Bill
