Lisa Marie at the Sherborn Inn
with Charles Farrell piano, and Ken Steiner bass

Senior Luncheon, May 11, 2011

LISA MARIE captivated the audience at the Sherborn Inn with her warmth and versatility and expansive repertoire of jazz, swing, blues, soul, rock, and more.  Tailoring the tunes to the audience, she drew us right in.

She started with a heartfelt Love Letters, moving to Heaven, Farrell's fingers running up and down the piano, making it sing. Softly she continued with It's Been a Long Long Time.   With a powerful vocal delivery, she belted out I Go Out Walking like a Red Hot Mama.   Then soft again You Don't Know Me.

Ken slapping bass and Charles on piano She moved downscale, almost moaning, for Autumn Leaves, then Charles moved into a peppy Latin beat on piano, with Lisa Marie on castinets, Ken slapping that bass, everybody was  tapping their toes and writhing in their seats, then she finished the last chorus singing in French.  Marvelous!

She has a whole box of hand instruments at her disposal, and makes each song sound different and exciting with tambourine, castinets, rattles.

A bouncy tambourine started a Fats Domino series with I'm Walkin',  and  Hey Good Looking.   Ken doesn't just slap that bass, he played beautiful melody for Honeysuckle Rose

I Love You For Sentimental Reasons, a tender love song, Lisa Marie spoke the lyrics, expressing deep, tender feelings.

She ROCKED with Jumping From Six to Six and Blueberry Hill,  The Beatles' Slow Down - Give me a little lovin if you want our love to last!   Baby Watcha Gonna Do?

Kansas City  and Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby.    Blues are her specialty - Everyday I Have the Blues, and  Ray Charles's Georgia. She threw in a bit of Country with Your Cheating Heart,  then finished the fine afternoon at the luncheon with Shake Rattle & Roll.

What better way to spend an afternoon - enjoying a great, affordable, lunch with a talented, amiable, singer.  Thanks for coming out our way, Lisa Marie!
