The Vatiles,  Jeff Grosser & Eric Anderson

Ruth and Frank Vatile with Ruth on mandolin, and Frank on guitar, performed two fine mandolin pieces and two banjo pieces. They began with a classic Recuerdos De La Alhambra and also Segovia's Savilla, an Eddy Kababshian arrangement on mandolin.

Ruth explained the Moorish influence, since they conquered Spain and stayed for 300 years!

The impressive pair played banjos for What a Friend We Have in Jesuss with Ruth playing melody and Frank chords. Gold Diggers was a  masterful up tempo, foot-tapping tune.

Dr. Jeff Grosser on 4-string banjo, and Eric Anderson on tuba, were from down Maine. Jeff had a chance to play many of the tunes he didn't have time on his recent trip to Sacramento, so he made up for it here. Everywhere You Go, with Jeff on the vocal.  King Chanticleer was dedicated to Ray Alotta, a tune Jeff and Ray did together. He is really missed.  They played another tune popular in Europe and the West Coast, but we missed the name of it.
