Great Connecticut Traditional Jazz
Festival
2013 - 2014 |
Cromwell, CT - April 3, 2013-After a meeting
on March 28, the Festival announces a
one-year hiatus due to declining sponsorship
revenue and increasing expenses. In
addition to searching for a grant writer,
the Festival is exploring other ways to
increase attendance and income.
Ray Ross, Executive Director, notes that
efforts are being made to increase marketing
efforts in order to bring more people to the
Festival. Mr. Ross also notes that
professionals in the fields of fundraising
and grant writing are
being sought to assist the Festival in its
efforts to continue to bring uniquely
American music to Connecticut audiences.
Mr. Ross and
the entire Board of Directors emphasize that
the Festival is planning to return in 2014.

Jazz News for 2013 - 2014
|
Due to decreasing sponsorship
revenue and declining grant income,
the Board of Directors has decided
that we cannot produce a Festival
this summer. We are planning to be
a part of the Connecticut music
scene in 2014 and beyond. We are
investigating several opportunities
to increase fundraising,
sponsorship, and marketing, and we
feel that attempting to produce an
event in 2013 would place our future
in jeopardy.
We encourage our friends and fans to
continue to support live jazz
whenever and wherever possible, and
to look for us in 2014. We will
periodically update you as to our
progress.
We are looking forward to being a
part of Connecticut's music scene
for a long time to come. Remember
that The Great Connecticut
Traditional Jazz Festival is a
501-c-3 not-for-profit corporation
under IRS rules. Contributions to
the Festival may be deductible.
On a more positive note, Horns for
Kids has instruments available to
Connecticut schools. Lee Walkup's
