This was the Stone
Street Strummers 18th Annual Spring Fling. One of the best run
banjo bashes, with a friendly congenial atmosphere, it gives
banjo devotees an opportunity to meet folks and make new friends
from all over the country who enjoy playing as much as they do. It is
always a fun weekend!Founded by Dick Alley in 1981, The Strummers
play a variety of musical styles that go back to the turn of the
Century when Jazz and Ragtime were first introduced. These popular
styles evolved into the toe-tapping songs of the 1920's through the
1940's. Today their performances include Traditional Jazz, Show
Tunes, and Pop Hits recognized and appreciated by discriminating
audiences throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Northern Rhode
Island.
The Stone Street Strummers started this weekend on Thursday
evening, putting on a free concert for the Senior Citizens in
the area. They had an audience in excess of 200 people who
enjoyed every minute of it!
