Brockton High School Jazz Band

Dueling tenor saxes, with Colin Keane of the BHS Band at one end and Ted Casher at the other.
Ted gave him a thumbs up!

Director Vincent Macrina has been with the Brockton High School Band for 39 years  He is to be congratulated for the many fine young, dedicated musicians in this Jazz Band.  Macrina started teaching straight out of Brockton High School; Gary Johnson was in his junior year at the time.  Vinny, as he is known,  said he has received many offers from other schools, but the City gave him such great support. he refused to go anywhere else.

He lost most of last year's band to graduations - this was the first performance for twenty-five percent of the band.  They only had five rehearsals since September, one or two times a week for a couple of hours.  Already they are pros!

They love to play Sammy Nestico's Jersey Bounce.  Veronica Ramos  was featured on trombone with Black Orpheus, adapted for the High School Band.  Alexandrea Gustin and Alex Thou were both sitting at the piano, playing 4-handed piano. Alexandria joined the band also playing clarinet on Big Noise From Winetka.

Jonathan Remy on trumpet.

Blake Fletcher played the full range of the transposing baritone sax on  Route 66.

The Brockton High School Jazz Band is an exemplary band, their program is second to none.  Congratulations, and thank you, Vinnie Macrina, for instilling a love for Jazz into the next generation.
